[ Google Review ] The Pineapple Plantation is a working farm with pineapples grown in greenhouses which is pretty cool. However, do not expect a large area to tour as it is only an entrance with a gift shop to the left and some greenhouses to walk in. I was hoping to purchase a drink or snack made of local pineapples but there was no snack bar or kiosk to do so. There was sample of their pineapple liquor in the gift shop but I did not try it. So, instead I took pictures of the beautiful plants they had blooming at the time.
[ Google Review ] Very interesting old church, Igreja Matriz de São Sebastião, with many elements, such as the ornate main entrance facing Portas da Cidade city landmark, built in the flowery and intricate so-called Manueline style (often observed in Lisbon). The initial construction works on the church began in the first half of the XVIth century. As various other buildings in the Azores, the church combines baroque gilded opulence and stark blackish stone materials quarried locally using basalt lava rocks.
