[ Google Review ] We obtained the accurate cars we reserved. I can recommend Subaru Forester as very comfortable even in F roads. Crossing the rivers with X-Mode on was smooth as piece of cake. No technical issues with the cars, we made 3000km. Check-in: since we landed in later hours the cars were waiting for us right in the airport Parking zone (300m from the hall). Check-out: quick all went well.

[ Google Review ] A 2 for 1 lighthouse visit in this location. We stopped here on our way to the airport, which is just a short detour. You can’t go in this one but you can walk right up to it. Great for some seaside pics and a walk in the area. There is a 2nd larger lighthouse right there, and a museum and boat you can also look at (may be a fee involved). Nice spot for lighthouse enthusiasts

[ Google Review ] This church was beautiful. My friend and I wanted to see one of the famous black churches, but the most photographed one was farther north than we were willing to travel especially with the weather we ended up having for most of our trip. I came across this black church and we just had to visit it after our trip to the Blue Lagoon. Highly recommend stopping by!

[ Google Review ] So listen... When you think to yourself, "hmm... I see a bunch of rocks over there, I think that is the objective, let's go, it's close" you are wrong. Very very wrong. The hike is 1.5 miles / 2.4km and seems like forever. It's better to look down and count the minutes, than look for how much you still have and how much you made. It will take 30-45 minutes depending on wind and walk speed. Now is it worth it? Hmm... Maybe.. the cliffs are nice, birds may or not be there... But my experience was pain, 45 minutes of walking, 5-10 minutes of enjoying the scenery, and then another 35 minutes to go back to parking because it was getting darker. So overall, if you have time and luck, it is worth it.

[ Google Review ] I feel that this is a hidden gem, we found it by just looking at the map and attractions while we were on the ring road. We hit it at sunset so the light perfectly highlighted the smoke. It was really cool to see the geothermal activity, and you can walk through the smoke (which stinks 🤣) It’s not far from blue lagoon and is on the way round the ring road to the bridge over the continents

[ Google Review ] It’s a nice looking lighthouse. You can hike up to it but can’t go in. Your best bet is to take a photo from afar like my photos are. If you like light houses, go here. If you just want somewhere to go, then here is somewhere that is nice to go to but if your time is limited, you can skip this one and just enjoy my photos. :) I hope you enjoy them.

[ Google Review ] Very over priced compared to other hot springs. Showers and changing area are kept very clean. The sauna and steam rooms are very bad, it felt warmer in the water to be honest, I expected a decent sauna for the price we paid around €85 per person (standard package). The view and water were beautiful but I found it very difficult to relax because of how over crowded it was, they had other pool areas that were closed off - this I don’t understand because there was definitely enough people to open all pool areas. I don’t recommend it, it’s over rated because of the milky blue water, plenty of other hot springs to visit with much better experience and for less money.

[ Google Review ] No clear information about the trails, so let me help… We took all three routes in one hike - it took us approximately 7-8 hours! If you want to follow only one hiking trail, I highly recommend you to skip the trail hike with the car gate (it’s longer, took us 2-3h, 10.4km back and forth, and brings you quite far from the crater). Take one of the two trails on left/western edge of the parking instead. Out of these two, one takes you to the hills (which is more tiring and challenging but gives you a great view on the solidified lava), the other one goes behind the hills so you only see the solidified lava at the end of the trail (but it’s easier and the path is mostly smooth). These two trails form a loop, so you can choose one for the way to the crater and the other one for the way back to the parking. At the end of both trails, you arrive at what looks like a solidified lava beach. You can either go up a hill to have view of the crater, or take the path around that hill to get closer to the crater. I recommend you to directly start walking on the solidified lava instead of taking the path on the side of the hill (it’s easier and more fun). But be careful because the closer you get to the crater, the more brittle the solidified lava. So it might break as you step on it. You can either tap a bit with your leg to test if it’s solid, or run!

[ Google Review ] This was one of the bigger geothermal areas we visited. It was a decently far drive to get here but it was worth it. There is a long walking path through the area and many different spots to see. The region around this destination is very nice as well with places you can stop as well. I would recommend stopping here if you are in the area. There is a high platform at the top which also gives you good views of the area.

[ Google Review ] An amazing experience! Photos can’t do it justice. I’ve hiked lava tubes in California and done Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, but this is in a class by itself! An easy 45-minute hike leads to Base Camp. Suit up and then a short hike up to the “lift” - a glorified window washer’s platform that lowers you 400ft down through a narrow passage into a huge chamber. Well lit with a path to take in views from around the bottom. Great guides!

[ Google Review ] Incredible, unique and outstanding place🤍 We were so glad we’ve got there! It was a bit cold to undress but still bearable considering the healing warmth of the water. The hike is easy and takes approximately 1hr in one side and around 50 min back. It’s definitely worth it and the place is equipped and very beautiful! Loved it Side note: if you’re visiting this place in a colder season, make sure to leave before the temperature drops because some paths that were wet might get a bit too slippery

[ Google Review ] This was a lovely little stop just off the road. We were there on a beautiful, sunny day and it wasn’t nearly as crowded as the waterfalls in the area. My husband and I walked around the rim at the top and around the lake at the bottom. If you have to choose, I would do the rim walk as it gives better views and the colors can look different depending on where the lighting is. You do have to pay to see it, although it is not a lot.

[ Google Review ] [September 2021] What a lucky turn of events that allowed me to visit the sanctuary! I had rushed over to the sanctuary under the expectation they would close at 4PM that day, but as it turns out they initially were to close earlier at 2PM due to the expectation of a ferry pulling into the harbor. Incidentally due to the inclement weather that was rescheduled, and as such they remained open! Unfortunately also due to the weather, the outdoor sanctuary portion itself was not accessible, and the Beluga Whales were moved indoors for the day. This was an absolutely stunning experience, with such an interesting variety of marine life. While I intentionally visited Iceland from September - early October 2021 to explore the country at the tail end of summer / start of autumn, that unfortunately meant I was outside of the puffin breeding season. With that being said, I was ecstatic to see there were puffins being taken care of at the sanctuary!! It was a marvelous experience that allowed me to see the curious creatures off season, albeit not in the wild. The entire exhibition was well detailed with colorful easy to follow information panels throughout, with a section dedicated to information on the whales themselves. Unfortunately I was not able to see them during my visit, but the panels still made for an enriching experience.

[ Google Review ] Arguably one of the most glorious of Iceland’s waterfalls! Not only is it tall, powerful, and picturesque, you can also walk behind it. The views are amazing from so many vantage points, and walking up to it, and around it, is an adventure. Parking is relatively close, but the entire area around the waterfall is wet and can be slippery. Hiking shoes or something with traction is ideal. Also, if you want to get close, try and wear water proof or quick drying clothes. You will not only get wet, but you could get soaked, especially on windy days. Near the parking lot is a water closet, a place to get coffee, and a couple of shops. This place can get very crowded as it is a main attraction in Iceland. Plan on spending some time here if you want to walk around it and get some cool shots. There is also another very cool waterfall down a footpath, which is even more adventurous. For that one you need to walk in a steam and then get completely soaked by the spray once you are within the cliff walls of the falls. This is definitely a place to see!

[ Google Review ] Great piece of canyon, we went in April and no one was there! A bit off the ring road but well worth it. We parked just before the River Crossing. It is easy to do with a 4x4, but if you have a somewhat smaller car and no 4x4, it will be a bit more difficult. Follow the river to the sand hill, where a path starts into the canyon.

[ Google Review ] this place is really cool. It’s very simple, as it is only a plane crash. But has been there for 50 years and the location with the plane is what makes it really neat. The 45 minute walk each way is absolutely worth it. Most people did not then take the time to walk another 200 feet to the black beach and wash the ocean crash. [ Google Review ] We were recommended this place by the lady at our hotel so we thought we’d give it a try. We didn’t book and it was very busy, but we were lucky enough to get a table. The staff were great and spoke good English. The menu is vast and printed on the wall in English and Icelandic. You can order on your phone which also shows everything in English and you can complete the payment here too. It’s nice and easy. The service is very efficient and the food was absolutely incredible. We ordered a burger each and then the sharing platter with the ribs, wings, pulled pork etc. EVERYTHING was so good and if I wasn’t so full I’d have ordered more. The Nutella fries for dessert were a bit unusual, we weren’t sure what to make of them - but that’s purely preference. They have a good selection of drinks too, being a brewery. Their soft drink selection is good too, particularly enjoyed the Koala Kola which was seasonal. Will definitely be back on our next visit to Iceland.

The Huldufoss waterfall welcomed us with a crazy rainbow on the bottom. And the falling snow scared the s...t from us! I never knew that a falling piece of snow can make such explosive sounds. Epic cliff under us, giant glacier all around, three waterfalls and amazing sounds. This is Nature! We went to this place on the end of May. Last km to the view point we had mostly snow, so be careful to visit this place in this time period. Pakgil is opened from June, so usual that is the best time to hike this area..

[ Google Review ] We hiked the red trail called Maelifell on May 25, 2022. The view was outstanding and the total hike took us about 4 hours to complete with an average hiking pace. The hike itself was amazing and we really enjoy this 500m climb. Please note that you will need to cross the Afretissa river multiple times in the later stage of the hike(last 1,5km). As we hiked in spring, the stream of the river was quite strong and it was about 50cm deep. Be prepared to get your feet wet if you also hike the spring. Also, be warned that the last 400m of the hike are on slim mountain crest which could prove challenging for people afraid of heights.

[ Google Review ] We used Local Guide in Mid-November and they were a great crew and service. We ended up going on their basic Ice Cave tour. We started off by taking the monster van on a 30 min ride down the road and then into Mars-like territory where some fun 4 wheeling was to be had. From the parking location after the drive, it was about a 25 min hike through fairly easy terrain, although there were some spots where you needed to be careful up and down some rocky areas, and over/through some streams. Even though it was a very cloudy, rainy, gloomy day, the cave was still beautiful to see. The blues in the ice still stood out, especially on camera, and the ice was amazingly clear. Both our guides were great at explaining what to expect, watching over the group, and providing us with information about the glacier and the cave. They were fun and professional at the same time. Based on our experience, I would use this service in the future for sure. Keep in mind, the basic cave tour is an easy tour and suitable for kids. If you want a more aggressive tour that climbs on the glacier, uses crampons and ice picks, you will want to go with another package.

Beautiful falls, river and sheep with the shore in the distance…for free? Come on! Take note this is just a short stop. No bathroom or anything. According to other reviewers there’s a little trail closer to the falls, but there was a fence so we just took a little path along the creek. [ Google Review ] One of the most incredible things to do in Iceland! The Silfra Fissure snorkeling tour with Arctic Adventures was astounding. Over the course of half an hour, one has a chance to snorkel in a drysuit between tectonic plates (American and Eurasian), swim through incredibly clear water, and have an awesome guide take pictures and point out different features. Our guide was Arcturo who was BEYOND amazing! He was knowledgeable, funny, and incredibly helpful! Would recommend everyone have him as your guide if you can request it. The tour itself ensures each person is safe. They cap the tours at 6 people and each guide ensures that the drysuits are worn properly and fastened securely. They do provide drybags to store one's things and highly recommend wearing under layers, although the only part of my body that got cold were my hands. They take great care of each person and at the end of the tour, they offer hot chocolate and cookies. The pictures taken with the GoPro are uploaded online and can easily be accessed the following day for free. There is also a chance to see some wildlife on the tour, with Arctic char and various species of algae growing in the area.

A small stream has to be crossed at one point which athletic persons might want to try and jump across, although taking off shoes and socks is the safe option. The Rauðufossar waterfall is beautiful and the rust-coloured riverbed near the Red Eye is fascinating. The Red Eye itself and the nearby waterfall are really worth the hike. [ Google Review ] This place is amazing, I went twice during my trip to Iceland. Nice accommodations and locker rooms. Lovely swim up bar in the water. Brandon (not sure how he spells it) great staff member, Excellent service at bar. Little cafe inside has pretty good food and drinks. In my opinion, the 7 steps process “pure package” is a must. The body scrub you put on before the steam room makes your skin unbelievably soft. I did the “sky package” second time, and while you get your own private shower there is not a great advantage besides more privacy in the locker room. Technically the 7 steps is really 5 because they consider the main pool #1 and the shower after/getting back in #7. I still thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. I enjoyed this lagoon more than the blue lagoon (even though you don’t get a free drink) and the newer forest lagoon up in Akureryi, the northern part of the country. Walk carefully because some of the seating in the water is hard to see, and has rocks sticking out. Don’t be lame and not do the cold plunge before the dry sauna.

With the mountains framing the bay and the reflection of the blue sky and orange light, it’s a sight to behold as you walk along the shore to start the day. The wind is brisk here, but there were plenty of people walking, biking, and riding scooters along the paved walkway, while commuters made their way to work.

[ Google Review ] Very cool architecture. We went during the day. It was Iceland’s Independence Day! So there were flags around and that made it cool. Inside the church is very plain. The seats can rotate to view either end of the church which was a cool feature! Guessing most of this plain decor and stuff inside is to help focus on the sermon.
